    SERVE Food Cooperative

This food cooperative offers deep discounts on top-quality groceries to people who volunteer at least two hours each month.

Anyone who wants to save on groceries can participate as long as they volunteer two hours in the month they place their order. There are no restrictions on income or family status.

The Food
Serve purchases its food from the finest private producers, growers, and wholesalers in New England.  Fruits and vegetables often come directly from local farmers.  Meats are superior cuts, often better than what you can buy at the grocery store.

Since Serve buys in large quantities, it gets big discounts — which it then passes along to you. None of the food is government surplus.

The Packages
We offer three standard packages each month, as well as two meat specials.

The Family Meal package provides ingredients for four meals for a family of four. The Meat Only package contains extra portions of the same meat offered in the Family Meal package. The Produce package is the vegetarian alternative to the Family Meal Plan.

The cost of each package typically ranges from $14 to $22. You may purchase as many packages as you like in any combination. You pay for each package when you order.

Holiday Food Basket
Each Fall, we offer a Holiday Food Basket with all the fixings you'll need for your holiday meal. Each basket includes an 8- to 10-pound turkey, potatoes, carrots, onions, apples, squash, stuffing mix, and cranberry sauce.

What Qualifies as Volunteering?
Serve defines volunteer service as anything that you do without compensation for someone outside of your immediate family, without compensation. If you already volunteer, you already qualify!  Do you help at your church, school, youth-sports program, hospital, or senior center? Do you take a friend to the doctor, baby sit for a neighbor?

How To Order
You may place your order by the order deadline at The Cape Ann Food Pantry or Second Glance Resale Shop. Or you can order online.

Pick Up Your Order

You can pick up your order at the Cape Ann Food Pantry during regular business hours on the pick-up date. Please be sure to bring a completed Community-Service Receipt to confirm that you performed two hours of volunteer service.
